Local businesses given opportunity to compete with the major player

South Yorkshire businesses are being given the chance to show what they can offer major public sector organisations at a regional “Meet The Buyers” event.

Organised by the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), the free event – which takes place in Sheffield on Wednesday, March 27 – aims to promote and arrange trade links between small businesses and large organisations within South Yorkshire.

The hope is that, by establishing the links, maximum revenue will be retained within the area, boosting and supporting economic recovery in the region.

Present at the event will be the procurement representatives of many public-sector organisations including Barnsley, Rotherham and Sheffield Councils, along with Veolia, Amey, the Yorkshire Purchasing Organisation and the NHS. Refreshments are provided and there are excellent opportunities for networking.

Gordon Millward, Regional Chairman of the FSB, said:

This is the fourth year the FSB has presented  the annual ‘Meet the Buyers’ event and they have proved to be one of the most popular events in the local business calendar. Previous events have to some extent been victims of their own success and as a result last year’s was over-attended. We are therefore placing a cap on attendance this year so places are limited to 150. Businesses wishing to attend are therefore encouraged to register their attendance promptly online if they wish to be sure of securing a place.
