Top tips to help business in the Yorkshire Dales boost their profits will be available at a series of free events over the next few weeks.
Four meetings focusing on marketing have been organised for members of the Dales Tourism Business Network, which was set up by the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority (YDNPA) and the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is co-ordinated by Susan Briggs of The Tourism Network.
“Although we normally hold our networking and learning events in the autumn and winter, we’ve had some requests to add a few more to our programme so we’ve decided to run an extra Network meeting – and this one will be even more packed with information than usual.
“Spaces are limited and the events are usually very popular amongst businesses catering for visitors so we would advise booking as soon as possible.”
Kathryn Storey, the YDNPA’s Sustainable tourism officer, said:
“The Business Network exists to help boost the National Park’s local tourism economy and the staging of the Tour de France Grand Depart next year – with a huge influx of one-off visitors into the area – is going to be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
“Marketing will play an important part in maximising their profits from that passing trade and in trying to attract return visitors.”
Among the topics on the agenda at the meetings are:
- tips on easy, low-cost ways to improve marketing almost immediately
- Ways of promoting to local people and developing Visiting Friends and Relatives markets
- Developing new resources and a business support programme
The meetings will all be on the same theme and will run between 1pm and 3.30pm on:
May 21 at the Key Centre in Middleham
June 5 at Kilnsey Park in Kilnsey near Grassington
June 6 at the Dales Countryside Museum in Hawes
June 13 at the Council Chamber in King Street, Pateley Bridge.
