Monkbar Hotel initiative sees 25 per cent rise in wedding bookings

A York hotel is reporting a 25 per cent increase in wedding bookings, thanks to a new initiative which puts itself centre stage!

Since last November, the Best Western Monkbar Hotel has staged a series of open evenings, where brides and grooms can get a look and feel of the venue.

However, unlike traditional wedding fairs where a host of experts showcase their services and talents, on these occasions it is just the hotel on show.

Monkbar Hotel manager Graham Usher said:

“For the past 13 years we have organised a very popular wedding fair, where an array of individuals and businesses present their individual specialisms.

“Even though the event is held in the hotel, most brides and grooms have already got a venue in mind and we are almost superfluous.

“With our open evenings, we lay up one of our function rooms in four different styles. This way, couples can concentrate solely on the venue, and it is paying dividends.

“We have seen a 25 per cent increase in bookings and we are attributing a lot of this down to our open evenings.

“We certainly won’t be ditching our annual wedding fair in November, but we will be continuing with our open evenings.”

The next Monkbar Hotel wedding venue open evening is being held between 5pm and 8pm on Thursday, July 11. The wedding fair is being held on Sunday, September 22.
