Leeds law firm Emsleys is one of a handful of solicitors that has been awarded a new contract by the Legal Aid Agency to provide legal aid to people in need of family mediation.
The firm, which recently appointed Gabbie Clasper as head of Family Law, offers a family mediation service as an alternative to Court proceedings.
The contract with the Legal Aid Agency, which is funded by the Ministry of Justice, will enable Emsleys to extend its mediation services to people requiring legal aid.
Gabbie Clasper said:
“This contract is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the team. Mediation requires very specialised skills and we have a male and a female mediator, both with a wealth of experience.
“Mediation offers an alternative option for people wanting to try to resolve their family matters outside of the court arena and at a lower cost, which ultimately must be better for families.
“Often people come to us for mediation services at a low point in their lives, so to be able to offer our experience and services through legal aid is fantastic news for people who are financially eligible.”
Mediation sessions can be held at any of Emsleys’ offices including Colton Mill, Rothwell, Crossgates, Castleford and Garforth.
