Muse Developments has commenced construction of the next phase of Doncaster’s new Civic and Cultural Quarter (CCQ).

‘The Gables’ is the first phase of housing at the £300 million regeneration project which Muse is delivering in partnership with Doncaster Council.

Specialist housing contractor Lovell – Muse’s sister company and part of the Morgan Sindall Group – has been appointed for the construction of the first 54 new homes. These will be the first high quality modern houses to be built in the town centre in a number of years.

Contemporary in design and constructed using sympathetically traditional materials, homes at ‘The Gables’ are designed to have low running costs and maintenance needs.

Located close to the train station and within walking distance of local attractions, each home at ‘The Gables’ will come with car parking and most will have private gardens, making them ideally suited for first time buyers, young professionals and families.

The CCQ is transforming the Waterdale area of Doncaster and has already seen the completion of Doncaster Council’s new civic offices and the refurbishment of the Civic Quarter multi-storey car park and Sir Nigel Gresley Square.

A new performance venue, recently named Cast, is due to open in early September.

Coun Bob Johnson, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Growth, said:

“The new phase of residential development is excellent news for Doncaster. It shows our commitment to Doncaster’s economic growth and it is testament to the public/private partnership we have developed with Muse that this significant scheme has continued through the recession.

“Not only is the Civic and Cultural Quarter transforming the town centre and helping to deliver jobs and growth, it is all set to become an appealing home address for a new generation of families and home-owners.”

Hollie Reynolds, residential sales & marketing manager at Muse:

“The start of construction and naming of ‘The Gables’ marks another step forward in this significant mixed-use regeneration scheme. It is very exciting for us to be able to introduce a range of homes that are attractive and affordable into the heart of Doncaster and within easy reach of all town centre amenities.

“I have no doubt that demand will be high and we are keen to encourage all interested parties to register their interest early.”

As part of the CCQ and sat alongside the planned cinema and restaurant led leisure scheme, ‘The Gables’ is both at the centre of local life and a step away from the bustle.

The latest Government-backed scheme ‘Help to Buy’ will be available at the development which means that home-buyers can be helped onto the property ladder with as little as 5% deposit. Blundells Estate Agency has been appointed as sales agents and prospective purchasers can register their interest now.

Greg Bayliss, Blundells Land and New Homes, said:

“The market in Doncaster has been waiting for a scheme like ‘The Gables’ for a long time.

“This area of Doncaster is destined to become a unique and very attractive place to live and this is a fantastic, rare opportunity for customers to consider buying a convenient, design led, enduring family home in one of the best connected locations in the UK.”
