A York hotel has made a key appointment to its food and beverage team.

The Best Western Monkbar Hotel has strengthened its senior team by employing Robert Webster as Food Services Manager.

Mr Webster joins the award-winning city centre hotel from its sister Best Western hotel, the Dean Court, where he was assistant manager.

Monkbar Hotel General Manager Graham Usher said:

“I’m delighted Robert has joined our team as he brings with him a wealth of experience having worked in the industry for almost 15 years.

“Robert is extremely organised, motivated, and has a genuine interest in the dining aspect within the hotel. I’m confident he will rise to this exciting challenge and help take our food and beverage operation to the next level.”

Robert said:

“The Monkbar Hotel is one of the best-known hotels in the city and is a very popular venue for locals and visitors alike.

“Over the last few years, the hotel has gone from strength to strength and the comments I regularly read and see are testament to this.

“I’m very much looking forward to working with Graham and the food and beverage team at what is a very exciting time for the hotel.”

Robert’s first position in hotel industry was that of trainee conference porter at the York Pavilion Hotel. Over the next seven years he rose through the ranks to the position of assistant manager.

In 2006 he moved to the Dean Court Hotel as assistant manager and stayed there for a further seven years, where his main duties were the running of the bars and managing all the staff.
