Richmondshire businesses given advice on benefiting from Tour de France

A North Yorkshire council is offering businesses advise on how they can benefit from next year’s Tour de France.

Richmondshire Council, alongside YorkshireDalesNational Park and Craven District Council, has designed and published a series of leaflets offering advice on a number opportunities, including setting up a temporary camping or caravan site, temporary car park and advertising your business, as well as setting u a dedicated page in its website.

The start of the Tour, or Grand Depart as it is known, will begin in Leeds on Saturday 5 July 2014, taking in Richmondshire where cyclists will ride along 48 miles of the districts roads, through the stunning Dales countryside including a breathtaking ride across the iconic buttertubs before finishing at Harrogate.

Pat Wilson, business and community manager, said:

“As well as the thousands of visitors to the area over three billion people worldwide watch ‘Le Tour’ on television every year which means that Richmondshire and its stunning landscapes will be seen on the worlds stage like never before.

“There is no doubt in our minds that our fabulous landscapes and historic buildings will create a fabulous back drop to the race.”

Further leaflets will produced in the run up to the tour.
