A family-run silverware manufacturing business has joined the supporters of this year’s Eat Sheffield Awards.
Sheffield-based Carrs Silver, which exports to more than 80 countries, will present the Fine Dining Award at the gala dinner celebrating South Yorkshire’s top foodies on 28 October at Sheffield Hallam University.
The firm is the UK’s only start-to-finish silver cutlery manufacturer, and owns Europe’s largest archive of cutlery patterns, offering an impressive range of 27 in its current collection.
It is largest supplier of cutlery blanks to many other silverware companies, while Carrs Silver’s own patterns are used in many of the UK’s finest restaurants.
Carrs managing director, Richard Carr, said:
“The Made in Sheffield brand is known all over the world and we are keen to support the local businesses that, like us, are flying the flag for the city and its dedicated and skilled workforce.
“The Eat Sheffield awards have done a lot to raise the profile of our local food industry since they started.
“We count a number of local restaurants as Carrs’ customers, so we are delighted to get involved with the awards and help to promote our food industry’s fantastic achievements.
“We are really looking forward to the Eat Sheffield gala dinner, and to presenting the winner of this year’s Fine Dining category with their award.”
Eat Sheffield is a Sheffield Business School initiative that champions and supports South Yorkshire’s independent food businesses.
The annual awards include categories that are voted by a panel of judges as well as awards voted for by the public. Last year’s awards attracted over 10,000 public votes.
Eat Sheffield’s Niki Baker said:
“We are always delighted to welcome new supporters to Eat Sheffield and are particularly delighted to have the association of such an established, Sheffield business joining us, particularly one with links to the food industry sector and already working with many of those we look to support and promote.
“We look forward to working together with Carrs Silver and our other supporters to deliver an exceptional event once more this year.”
