Hambleton landlords urged to drop in to help homeless

A new scheme to help young homeless people in Hambleton access housing in the private sector will be in the spotlight later this month.

Foundation Housing – in partnership with Hambleton District Council – is holding a drop in day for private landlords and estate agents to provide them with information on the support and financial help available to the homeless.

Chris Fullwood, Foundation’s project worker, said:

“We want these landlords to understand the potential benefits to them of helping the increasing number of homeless young people we have in Hambleton.

“The benefits can be threefold – a bond can be provided by the local authority, rent comes to them in advance and a support worker will look after the tenant.

“On top of that there is the social benefit of helping the increasing number of young people finding themselves in this difficult position.”

The event takes place at the Hambleton Forum in Northallerton on Wednesday October 23 from 11am until 2pm.
