Michelin-star chef Jeff Baker and family bakery Thomas the Baker have joined forces to produce an exclusive pint-sized pudding for the shoppers this Christmas.
Thomas’s new special edition triple chocolate stout Christmas pudding has been given a Michelin-starred twist by top Yorkshire chef Jeff Baker, with the addition of a generous helping of Saltaire Brewery’s Triple Chocoholic Stout and Belgian chocolate chips.
The critically-acclaimed chef hooked up with the Yorkshire bakery after a visit to its headquarters, where he says he was ‘blown away’ by the professionalism and use of top-quality ingredients.
“Thomas’s Christmas Pudding is already an award winning 70-year-old recipe so it was a tough one to improve!
“We did five or six trials and decided to swap the Guinness for stout and soak the fruit in this for a week to get just the right savoury flavour and it was a real honour for me to work alongside such skilled bakers.”
Managing director John Thomas said they were keen to give an edge to their pudding to appeal to the luxury market,.
“We are famous for our distinctive and award winning Christmas puddings and were keen to tap into the unique and luxury handmade pudding market, which has been trending widely in the last few years.
“However, we didn’t want to compromise on our pudding’s ‘Great Taste’ and as a Yorkshireman, Jeff really understood our brand and ethos.”
