Christmas has come early to a North Yorkshire charity thanks a local food manufacturer.

Staff at Leeming Bar-based Vale Of Mowbray presented Dales Care – a charity day centre for independent older people located in the heart of Bedale – with a cheque for £5,000 and a big donation of pork pies for all the visitors, staff and volunteers.

Michelle Sands from Dales Care said:

“Vale Of Mowbray have supported Dales Care for many years now and its always a pleasure when they come to visit us at Christmas time.

“Representatives from Vale Of Mowbray, John Gatenby and company production manager, Sheree Walker, took the time to talk to everyone and then surprised us all with a huge donation of delicious pork pies for everyone.”

John Gatenby from Vale Of Mowbray, said:

“We enjoy supporting Dales Care and have done for a number of years now, the work they do is so important and we like to help in any way we can to ensure the longevitiy of this vital service in our community.”

Dales Care was established in 1988. A place where older and more vulnerable people are welcomed to enjoy activities, lunches and social opportunities at our relaxing day care facilities.

Its objective is to enhance the quality of life for the older independent people in our community.

Dales Care also provides meals on wheels three times a week to those who are unable to visit the centre.

Michelle Sands added:

“We would like to thank Vale Of Mowbray for their kindness. Every donation counts, small or large however a donation of this size gives us all such a boost.

“Its such a wonderful Christmas gift for Dales Care & all the visitors couldn’t stop smiling after receiving their free pork pies!”
