Barnsley businesses are being urged to get active and dig deep at a fun-filled day for today’s Sport Relief 2014.
Sporting and fitness organisation Team Activ is hosting a sporting extravaganza packed with winter Olympic themed games.
The event, which is in aid of Sport Relief includes indoor curling, a space hopper slalom and an “ice hockey” shoot-out using beanbags and nets.
Local businesses are being encouraged to use the event as an opportunity to promote an active workforce, as well as to raise money for a worthwhile cause.
Sport Relief this year is encouraging the public to run, swim or cycle. Held once every two years, Sport Relief is a charity event from Comic Relief, in association with BBC Sport.
It combines the worlds of sport and entertainment in a bid to raise money to help vulnerable people in both the UK and third world countries.
Each Team Activ event will help to populate a league spurring the businesses to give it their all in a bid to finish top.
Team Activ founder Darren Padgett said:
“This is a brilliant opportunity for local businesses to bring their team down, get them active, have some fun and use it as a team building activity.
“The fact it’s helping to raise money for a very good cause is a brilliant bonus. I look forward to seeing all the businesses battle it out to be number one in the leagues.”
Today’s event will be held at the Digital Media Centre, County Way, Barnsley from 10am to 4pm.
Each activity will cost just £1 to enter, with all proceeds going straight to the charity.
