South Yorkshire antique lovers are invited to come to the filming of one of ITV’s top daytime shows – Dickinson’s Real Deal.
Magna Science Adventure Centre will play host to the show, regularly watched by over a million people, when its cameras roll into the former steelworks on Saturday April 12th.
Hundreds of people are expected to come along on the day with antiques and collectibles they’d like to get valued, sell to a dealer or put up for auction under the watchful eye of Real Deal guru David Dickinson.
“It’s great to bring the show to Magna in Rotherham. I remember visiting South Yorkshire with the show several years ago. The items brought in were fantastic, great quality – with fabulous history and stories attached.”
John Silker, general manager of Magna Trust:
“We’re looking forward to welcoming David and the Real Deal team to Magna.
“Magna is a remarkable building which embodies the living history and industrial heritage of the area and it will be interesting to see what family treasures and local artefacts people bring in for the experts to have a look at.”
This is not the first time TV has been on location at Magna.
The BBC’s Children in Need live programme was broadcast from here and most recently CBBC filmed an episode of kids’ drama The Sparticle Mystery here.
TV production companies are just some of the diverse range of organisations which look to Magna as a destination.
The venue also has bookings for dance, music and sporting events on its calendar as well as business events and conferences such as the Yorkshire International Business Convention which will be held here in May with speakers including BBC’s Robert Peston and South Yorkshire actor Brian Blessed.
“ITV’s trip to Magna shows again what a tremendously versatile venue it is with plenty of space and a scope for corporate, cultural, educational and family-focused activities.
“It attracts people from all walks of life across the UK and is a landmark attraction for the region.”
Those wanting to bring an item along to the Dickinson’s Real Deal show, come to Magna on Saturday April 12, between 9am – 5pm.
Admission is free to the show, but please bring along a form of ID.
The family visitor attraction will be open as usual on the day 10am to 5pm.
