Sheffield Chamber of Commerce has seen a 101 per cent increase in the amount of traffic to its website’s events pages.
The growth follows the Chamber’s partnership with leading search engine optimisation company SEO Works to boost visits to key sections of its website.
Sheffield Chamber has also seen a 93 per cent rise in traffic to its blog pages where members are mentioned.
The figures look at online activity during January to May this year compared with the same period in 2013.
Emma-Jane Wright from Sheffield Chamber said:
“In a recent survey businesses told us that networking and lobbying remain the key priorities they look to the Chamber to for support.
“Interest in our events programme has grown significantly in the last 12 months with 700 more people attending activities compared with the previous year.
“This has coincided with an increase in the amount of visits to our online pages and forms part of a co-ordinated approach from the Chamber to inform businesses of the opportunities available through us.
“SEO Works has been instrumental in helping us to shape our website to maximise search optimisation and ensure we reach as many people as possible.
“This information also allows us to identify the key services businesses are interested in from the Chamber.”
SEO Works started working with the Chamber on its website in April 2013.
Neil Palmer, managing director of SEO Works said:
“The support we have provided to the Chamber over the last year has enabled it to attract better quality traffic to the website as the SEO is now more efficient at targeting important and relevant keywords.
“This has seen a significant increase in visits to the events pages, blogs and overall first page rankings, resulting in page views per visitor increasing by 68 per cent compared to a year ago.
“It is therefore pleasing to hear the Chamber has seen an increase in interest relating to these service areas, including events and is a further example that with good SEO, a business can see a commercial return on that investment.”
As part of the partnership between the two companies, the Chamber SEO service has been created to help members access the benefits directly for themselves.
Chamber SEO allows members of all sizes to increase their online rankings on key search websites, such as Google, Bing and Yahoo.
It helps SMEs help to clarify what SEO is, how it works and what benefits are available nationally and internationally.
