A Bedale-based business – which last month launched a revolutionary tourism app to promote the Yorkshire region – has been nominated for an award.
Elmtree Press, which has been established for more than 20 years and specialises in the travel and tourism sector, has been shortlisted in the Local Is Best Award, in the inaugural Hambleton Business Awards.
The Elmtree Press team devised and created the “Go Yorkshire” app, in which users can explore all that Yorkshire has to offer.
The free app, has been downloaded almost 4,000 times and more than 300 shops, attractions and hospitality venues have already signed up to promote their individual businesses.
These include Black Sheep Brewery, York Dungeon, Ace Comics in Leeds, Scotts of Helmsley, Newby Hall & Gardens and Lightwater Valley Theme Park.
In addition to the “Go Yorkshire” app, Elmtree Press also produces the well-known “Bedroom Browsers”, guides specifically designed for promoting the area and the “Go Yorkshire” Mini-Guide, which provides information on attractions and eateries through York.
Helen Bullock, Elmtree Press managing director, said:
“We are thrilled to have been nominated for this award being run by Hambleton Council.
“At Go Yorkshire we feel that local is best and we are passionate about promoting Yorkshire’s local businesses.
“We believe that welcoming tourists to our area will encourage growth in our local economy and prosperity throughout the community.
“Elmtree Press with our Go Yorkshire brand aim to promote our region to as wide an audience as possible. It truly is God’s Own County and we are and we want everyone to know!”
The winners will be announced at a ceremony being held on Thursday.
