Wakefield-based Generator Power, a leading supplier of temporary power solutions, is to expand the number of generators it supplies and its fleet of commercial vehicles following £2 million in funding from Santander Corporate & Commercial. The company is benefitting from strong demand for its services and the expansion will help cater for increasing business opportunities.
Established in 1997, the firm has quickly grown to become a key provider of temporary power to a range of clients including large energy companies such as Northern Power Grid (Yorkshire Electricity), Scottish Power and United Utilities Water. Managing Director Stephen Cardwell has grown the business from a start-up with 12 generators to a business with c.£20 million annual turnover and a fleet of over 1,000 generators.
The funding from Santander Corporate & Commercial will enable the purchase of new generators as well as light and heavy commercial vehicles and truck-mounted cranes, providing Generator Power the ability to offer more services across the UK. While based in Wakefield, the business now has seven branches across the country and is looking to expand its reach further. The firm is already involved in international projects and offshore platforms.
Stephen Cardwell, Managing Director, Generator Power Ltd, said:
“The company is benefitting from strong demand, including from our large energy clients. I’m delighted to be able to take this opportunity to expand our fleet of vehicles and the number of generators on our books. Santander has strongly supported our growth strategy, and I’m equally delighted to have them on board.”
Dan Houman, Relationship Director, Santander Corporate & Commercial, said:
“Generator Power is a fantastic UK success story that Wakefield can be proud of. Led by a highly experienced management team, the firm has a clear plan in place to grow and expand, and I’m fully confident they will meet their aspirations.”
