Solicitor Helen Rundle has been shortlisted in the prestigious Law Society Excellence Awards 2014.
Helen, an associate solicitor at Langleys Solicitors LLP, is nominated in the Junior Lawyer of the Year category.
Helen, who qualified in 2010, specialises in medical negligence cases as a member of Langleys’ Medical Law team.
She is currently representing Gareth Williams and others in respect of their concerns regarding patient neglect at Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board (ABMU) hospitals. The concerns have escalated to a national level involving a campaign for a public inquiry and ongoing police investigations. Three nurses have been charged with wilful neglect under the Mental Capacity Act 2005. There is intense media and political scrutiny.
“I’m thrilled to have been shortlisted in The Law Society Excellence Awards. Just to have made the shortlist is a great achievement of which I am very proud.”
Helen was nominated by Sally-Ann Robinson, partner and head of the Medical Law team. She said:
“Helen’s commitment and determination to secure answers for her clients has been demonstrated in the AMBU case and other cases. For a junior solicitor she shows exceptional maturity in her approach and has already made a real difference to clients and local communities.”
The winner of the Junior Lawyer of the Year will be announced at the awards ceremony on 9 October at the Park Plaza Hotel, London, along with the winners of another 15 categories.
