Lisa Pickard, chief executive of Leeds and Yorkshire Housing Association (LYHA) has been appointed to the board of TPAS, the leading national Tenant Empowerment Organisation.
TPAS represents 1,750 tenant and residents groups and 220 landlords. Its mission is to promote effective tenant involvement and empowerment and the TPAS Board is responsible for setting the organisation’s strategic direction.
Celebrating 20 years in housing this year, Lisa was appointed as Chief Executive at LYHA, which owns and manages over 1,200 homes Leeds and Yorkshire-wide, in 2012 where she has led a transformational change of the organisation and its governance.
Before joining LYHA, Lisa spent two years as Assistant Director at the Social Housing regulator; TSA (Tenant Services Authority) leading on the consumer standards, with a focus on governance, co-regulation and value for money giving her an invaluable insight from both sides of the fence.
Prior to this, she held positions with Places for People, Tees Valley Housing Group (now Thirteen) and Two Castles Housing.
Commenting on her appointment, Lisa Pickard said: “I am delighted to be appointed to the Board of TPAS, an organisation I have supported throughout my career and one which I think is needed within the social housing sector.
“Its work is vital in supporting landlords to genuinely engage customers and in supporting tenants to ensure they have a voice; not only with their landlord but within their communities as well as nationally.”
Jenny Osbourne, TPAS chief executive, said “I am delighted to announce the appointment of Lisa Pickard to the TPAS Board.
“Lisa will bring new strategic vision, ideas and commitment to the organisation at this exciting next stage in our journey.
“TPAS is determined to be a strong voice for tenants, involvement staff and organisations in social housing and our Directors will have a key role in that over the coming months.”
Lisa has been appointed to the TPAS Board of Directors alongside Caritas Charles, Community Engagement Manager for Alliance Homes.
