The new-look Netto store has opened its doors in Edenthorope, Doncaster today, with an offer that combines the best of the low-price discount model with a unique Scandinavian twist.
The 12,000 sq ft store is one of the first stores to be launched as part of a trial over the next year in a joint venture between Sainsbury’s and Netto’s parent company, Dansk Supermarked.
The 25 new local employees will open the doors today to a new, fresh design based on the latest Netto stores in Denmark.
It represents a complete departure from the format that left the UK market in 2010. The range of over 2,000 products has been created especially for the UK to give customers a new offer and challenge other stores in the discount sector.
Netto will also offer around 60 weekly “Spot Deals” – when they’re gone, they’re gone – on both food and non-food products.
Netto UK will be led by Morten Möberg Nielsen, previously Managing Director of Netto in Germany, whose successful track record spans 18 years in retail including 14 years with Dansk Supermarked.
