The Light GP Practice based in Leeds city centre, which is operated by OneMedicalGroup, an independent healthcare solutions company, is today celebrating the expansion of the NHS practice to three floors on its seventh birthday.
The recently refurbished surgery has been offering NHS healthcare to everyone in Leeds City Centre and the surrounding areas since 2007 and has recently welcomed the 11,000 registered patient through the doors.
OneMedicalGroup, who have been headquartered in Leeds for 10 years, employs 220 people across the groups’ portfolio in Bracknell, Derby, Keighley, Grimsby, Bradford, Leeds, Bridlington and Sheffield.
Rachel Beverley-Stevenson, chief executive of OneMedicalGroup, said: “2014 has been a landmark year for the group, celebrating our tenth year of operation and the seventh birthday of the Light surgery.
“We are delighted that we have achieved this milestone at the Light, as it continues to expand and serve the Leeds community.”
Dr Amit Patel, Lead GP for the Light surgery, said: “The Light surgery was the first and is still the only GP service in the centre of Leeds.
“From opening seven years ago, the registered list has grown to over 11,000 patients. Over this time, we have increased capacity adding more doctors and nurses and also provided opportunities for apprentices, medical students and volunteers.
“We are committed to providing the best patient care for the people of Leeds and their loved ones.
“With over a quarter of our patients signing up for online booking and record viewings, innovation is very much central to our patient first approach along with community engagement which is part of our new patient education centre.
“Thanks go out to the whole team and all their hard work in helping the Leeds city centre community.”
