A Yorkshire group is set to grow by 60 per cent after launching what it claims is the most energy efficient window available in the UK and investing in a range of sustainable technologies.
Doncaster-based Senior Architectural Systems specialises in the design and supply of aluminium, fibreglass and polyamide windows and doors, primarily for the commercial and public sectors.
Its sister company Senior Glass Systems, which manufactures insulated glazed units including windows and doors, is based in Scarborough.
The group has secured a £750,000 asset based lending facility from Lloyds Bank Commercial Finance to fund a new £600,000 furnace, cutting table, a heat soak oven – used to test glass – and 15 new jobs at the Scarborough factory.
Group founder and director Lennart Jonsson said: “This investment will help us increase turnover at Senior Glass Systems by 60 per cent, from £5 million to £8 million, and we will be able to manufacture larger products and to a higher standard.”
The investment follows a period of intense R&D for the group, which has just launched its Pure range of aluminium windows that incorporate polyurethane foam insulation.
The group claims the patent-pending design, which took three years to develop, is the most energy efficient window on the UK market.
Lennart said: “Innovation is very important to us and we do all our new product development in house.
“The Pure window is truly ground-breaking and is set to revolutionise the window market
“No one has ever built a window using polyurethane foam before.”
A new curtain wall design is due to be launched in the new year and the group is exploring potential opportunities to begin selling its products in China and India.
With Lloyds’ support, the group has also invested £400,000 in a new paint line at its Doncaster site that will reduce wastage by 80 per cent, saving 22 tonnes of powder paint that would previously have been sent to landfill every year.
A new biomass boiler will power the site, fuelled by packaging waste and 100 tonnes of waste timber created by the company’s operations every year.
Another 14 new jobs will also be created in Scarborough.
The group, which has 170 staff and a total £25.5 million turnover, has customers including Lidl, Marks & Spencer and Holiday Inn and is particularly strong in the education and retail sectors.
It also has distribution centres in Livingston, Scotland and Newport, Wales.
