A former England rugby international and member of England’s Rugby coaching team has exercised both brain and brawn during a visit to Harrogate’s Academy Health Club.
Mike Catt OBE, who earned 75 international caps and played in two world cups including the 2003 winning team, took part in a training session on the new Technogym OMNIA functional training rig with staff and members, before taking part in a question and answer session with members and invited guests.
Mr Catt’s visit to The Academy was hosted by the club’s bankers, Yorkshire Bank, and followed a breakfast briefing with local businessmen and women in a town-centre hotel.
Academy Health Club Managing Director Philippa Shackleton said: “As a huge rugby fan it was fantastic having Mike here at The Academy and I would like to thank Yorkshire Bank for organising this on our behalf.
“Mike’s workout with the team and members – in which he demonstrated his high fitness level – was followed by a meet and greet session with guests, who then spent an hour firing questions at him, which were centred around his illustrious sporting career and England’s chances in the forthcoming Rugby Union World Cup.
“He even proved the rugby ball in the bin challenge was no fluke!
“Thanks to Yorkshire Bank’s wonderful support over the last three years we have been able to invest further in the business, which has helped cement our position as one of the area’s leading health clubs and spa.”
Yorkshire Bank Commercial Relationship Manager Jeremy Bowers said: “As The Academy is a valued customer we were delighted to facilitate this visit by Mike, who is a Bank Ambassador, and at the same time show off the club’s superb facilities.”
