A Leeds estate agency is homing in on two awards at the property sector’s very own ‘Oscars’ ceremony celebrating the best in customer service.

Castlehill, based on Otley Road, Headingley, has been shortlisted as a finalist in two categories for the Yorkshire and Humber region – Best Estate Agency and Best Letting Agency.

It is the first time the company has entered the coveted Estate Agent and Letting Agents Awards – known as the ESTAS – which will be presented by TV property expert and star of Channel 4’s Location Location series, Phil Spencer.

Castlehill, which has just unveiled an eye-catching new-look to its branch, website and sale and letting boards across its north Leeds heartland, is Headingley’s longest-established estate and letting agency.

Director Simon Ketteringham said: “Thanks to the efforts of our staff, we are proud to be flying a flag for independent agencies and also for Leeds in these awards.

“They are unique in the way they are judged – not by a panel of experts, but by 25,000 votes cast by customers nationwide throughout the year.

“Agencies win their way through to the finals solely on first-hand research carried out among our clients. They are asked a series of questions about the standard of service and score us on the professionalism they received when buying, selling or letting a property.

“Because of the way performance is measured, they carry a lot of kudos. As well as being our industry’s largest and longest-running annual awards, they are recognised as being our equivalent of the ‘Oscars’.”

He added: “We would like to thank all those customers who took the time to offer their feedback, which we have drawn upon over the year to make further improvements to the first-class service we strive to deliver.”

Phil Spencer said: “I think these awards help us all to focus on customer service for the greater good of our own businesses as well as the wider industry.  We must all drive standards higher, raising the bar in terms of the quality of advice we offer and the level of customer care we deliver.”

Simon Brown, who owns The ESTAS said: “Its client feedback which determines who is shortlisted and ultimately who wins that makes the ESTAS so valuable for agencies.  It takes a lot of commitment to enter the ESTAS and to make it to the shortlist is a great achievement in itself.”

The winners of the 2015 ESTAS will be unveiled at an awards ceremony in London on Friday April 17.
