More  than £1,200 was raised for a Halifax charity last night when teams from across West Yorkshire took part in a quiz organised by Wilkinson Woodward Solicitors.

The event, which attracted over a hundred people and took place at the Shay Stadium, was organised in aid of the Next Step Trust, which supports adults with learning disabilities and complex health needs.

Teams – including many representing local businesses – competed for the Wilkinson Woodward Bearders Trophy, which was awarded to West Yorkshire legal firm Broadway House Chambers in a fiercely contested battle of wits.

Preet Sandhu, CEO of The Next Step Trust, said: “The Next Step Trust provides a comprehensive day service provision alongside personalised services for the individuals we support.

“As a charity, we rely on the fund raising activities of our supporters and we are indebted to Wilkinson Woodward for their ongoing support.”

Managing director of Wilkinson Woodward Maureen Cawthorn said: “We are very grateful to everyone who supported the event and helped to raise vital funds for such a worthy cause.”
