Eleven colleagues from Leeds Building Society raised more than £4,000 for mental health charity Mind by completing a ten hour Lake District walk.

The team, who are managers at the Society’s branches in Leeds, completed the Buttermere Horseshoe Challenge covering 22km and climbing to a height of 5,800 feet. They were joined on their challenge by a colleague from Legal & General.

The group raised £4,200 overall for Mind – including £1,000 in matched funding from Leeds Building Society and £315 from Legal & General.

“It was really challenging, but we had lots of positive comments from other walkers,” said Rebecca Blow, the manager of Leeds Building Society’s Moortown branch.

“We were wearing the Leeds Building Society and Mind T-shirts, people were asking how much we had raised and commenting on what a good cause we had chosen to support.

“All the branches in the Leeds area joined in the fundraising effort with their own activities. I’d like to thank everyone who has sponsored us, and Leeds Building Society and Legal & General for providing matched funding.”
