When it comes to afternoon tea at one Yorkshire restaurant, the last thing you will find on the menu are fancy sandwiches and dainty cakes.
For The Yorkshire bar and grill is serving up a true Yorkshire picnic complete with Yorkshire Ham hock sarnies, buns stuffed with Yorkshire goats cheese and Yorkshire curd tart washed down by a mug of Yorkshire Tea!
The new ‘Yorkshire Picnic’ – Afternoon Tea for Northern Folk! – is just one of the new additions to the York restaurant’s extensive menu, which prides itself on sourcing as much of its produce form local suppliers.
All meat served in the Yorkshire Picnic comes from Thirsk-based R&J Yorkshire’s Finest Butchers, while all fish is also from local sources; FR Fowler & Son in York and Taylor Seafood.
Located in the heart of York’s historic medieval city centre, The Yorkshire bar and grill is found within the Best Western Monkbar Hotel, and is a major feature of the venue’s recent £3m upgrade.
Ben Allnutt, The Yorkshire bar and grill Head Chef, said: “Since our inception 12-months ago, we have prided ourselves on serving up great Yorkshire fare.
“The Yorkshire Picnic is our latest offering and is already proving incredibly popular with those people looking for an afternoon tea with a difference.
“It is a culinary celebration of the region and features a host of traditional dishes which have been given a 21st century makeover.”
