A Yorkshire farming family is celebrating the start of a successful new business venture following the launch of three luxury glamping properties on their working farm near Filey.

Edward and Mandy Lindley, who own the properties in Burton Fleming, decided to diversify into self-catered getaways to make the most of the growing glamping trend.

The farm, which is also home to free range chickens, provides a rural retreat for busy city dwellers seeking a space to ‘get away from it all’, showcasing the spectacular Yorkshire Wolds scenery and with easy access to the coast.

Now approaching its first anniversary, the enterprise has quickly grown in popularity. In response to high levels of demand the Lindleys have expanded the site from just one shepherd’s hut in September to now offer three, and have appointed local holiday letting specialists Yorkshire Cottages to market the quirky properties.

Carefully built by local craftsmen, the Lindley family have ensured the highest quality finish in every aspect of the huts. Guests are provided with private hot tubs, fire pits and woodburning stoves, among many other luxury details, for a cosy experience whatever the weather.

Debbie Wibberley, regional manager for Yorkshire Cottages and cottages.com, said: “We are delighted to have been chosen by Edward and Mandy to represent these three stunning shepherd huts.

“There is a huge market for glamping getaways and a growing desire among holidaymakers to get away from it all without travelling far from home. The Yorkshire Wolds is a beautiful part of the world and we’re confident the huts will continue to be extremely popular.”

Edward Lindley said: “We previously managed a B&B, so a self-catering business seemed like a logical next step, and a set-up that was far easier to manage alongside juggling family life and the farm itself.

“It was important to us that we created a space that we would want to stay in ourselves, and attention to detail when it came to styling was a high priority. Within less than 12 months we had already recouped the cost of the first hut and recently expanding our offering to three huts is a major milestone for the business.

“We approached Yorkshire Cottages following recommendations from local friends and we’re looking forward to a long and fruitful partnership together.”
