Residents throughout Leeds will soon be able to donate to Candlelighters, the local children’s cancer charity, via text messaging, thanks to Associated Waste Management’s vehicles displaying details of the charity’s text to donate number.
This is one of a number of initiatives the company have organised to support Candlelighters, the Yorkshire wide charity, supporting children with cancer and their families.
In addition to their Text to Donate signage, on 35 vehicles, they are also providing a location for parents with children undergoing treatment, to meet. A bereaved dad’s group will also enjoy a golf day courtesy of the company.
Mike Robinson of Associated Waste Management said: “Having seen the support offered to the children and their families, we wanted to support Candlelighters as much as possible. We have a number of ideas to get even more involved with the charity.”
Brian Curran, Candlelighter’s corporate fundraiser, said: “We are grateful to Associated Waste Management for all their support. As well as encouraging people to donate it also helps raise awareness and our need to generate more funds so we can provide more support services.”
The charity would love to hear from other companies who want to support a charity supporting local children with cancer, and their families. They should contact Brian on 0113 322 9283 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
