Sheffield-based Birley Manufacturing has strengthened its management team.
Darren Smith, previously sales manager, has been promoted to the position of sales director and will provide strategic direction for the entire sales team, focusing on generating new business leads as well as stimulating business within the company’s existing client base.
Jim Gilbert has been promoted to the position of operations director and, as such, he will assume full responsibility for all operations inclusive of CAD, Procurement, Production and Project Delivery. Jim, 48, brings a wealth of experience to this new role, having previously worked with Havelock Europa and other respected organisations such as Essanby and DRM Display Industries where he helped improve company profitability at various sites across the UK.
Darren and Jim will join Steve English, Birley managing director and company secretary Tracey Roberts, on the newly formed board of directors ensuring that there is a strong structure in place to progress the business and take advantage of future opportunities.
