Aspire in the Community, the Yorkshire-based care home provider, has secured a new £190,000 financial package from Santander Corporate & Commercial Banking to convert and refurbish its new premises in Barnsley and continue their expansion.
The refurbishment of “The Gate”, a former public house on Barnsley Road, is set to be completed ready for the Open Days on 15-17 April. The building will be Aspire’s main head office building, provide some single person respite care accommodation and also a training facility for the group.
Aspire in the Community currently operates two homes in Barnsley which specialise in the provision of care for individuals with learning disabilities and challenging behaviours, predominantly on the Autistic Spectrum.
Aspire was founded in 2009 by Marie Whitaker and Barry Taylor. They have more than 35 years combined experience in supporting people with learning disabilities and they plan to grow the business further to around nine homes across the region. Further services are already planned in Sheffield and Kirklees, and Domiciliary Supported Living services will be established in West and South Yorkshire this year.
Barry Taylor, director of Aspire in the Community, said:
“At Aspire, we offer a ‘home from home’ environment for our service users and try to help them achieve greater independence. We are delighted to be setting up a head office and training centre for Aspire.
“At the moment, we use office space within our existing homes for meetings and we hire space whenever we run a training course, so it will be fantastic to have the space available in our own building.
“The team at Santander offered us a thoughtful, generous package that matches the ambition we have for the business and we’re looking forward to continuing to work with them as we grow the business.”
“Aspire in the Community run care homes of the highest standard. Barry and Marie have a fantastic understanding of the social healthcare market, and an incredible passion for what they do.
“We are delighted to be able to help such a worthy local business continue to develop, and look forward to more opportunities to develop our relationship with the team there in the future.”
