Harrogate law firm, Raworths, has appointed John Carter as a solicitor working in the Corporate/Commercial and Commercial Property departments.
He will be advising businesses and individuals on a broad range of legal matters including commercial contracts, share transactions, leases and compliance with company law and Land Registry requirements.
In addition to John’s corporate and commercial property experience he has one year’s post-qualification experience as a litigation solicitor so he is familiar with both contentious and non-contentious areas of work.
John Carter is originally from Leeds and he attended Leeds Grammar School before studying law at the University of Nottingham and the University of the West of England. He completed his training contract at Bristol and London law firm, Osborne Clark before joining Wards in Bristol.
His wider experience includes teaching English as a foreign language in Seoul, Rome and Shanghai. In Rome, he taught legal and business English to senior lawyers at Italy’s two largest energy companies to assist with their international business communications.
His work included teaching students of all ages and abilities and one of his highlights was giving a motivational speech to 1,500 Chinese schoolchildren. He also gained legal work experience at a Chinese commercial law firm in Shanghai.
Partner Simon Morris said:
“John is a highly competent lawyer and his experience of working in different countries and cultures gives him a unique perspective on business matters. He is, however, delighted to be back to his roots in Yorkshire.”
Zoe Robinson, managing partner, said:
“We are continuing to look for well-qualified staff who can bring their experience and expertise to our business. John has already proved a valuable member of the team.”
