Sheffield Eagles are backing a new sports information initiative set to bring benefits to sports clubs big and small.
The Championship Rugby League club have signed up for a specially-designed sports app produced by South Yorkshire-based Sports ClubApp.com.
Whatever sport or size of club, the app is designed to enhance profile, provide news, results and fixture details as well as raising additional funds and providing sponsorship opportunities.
Mark Aston, Sheffield Eagles Head Coach and Chief Executive, said:
“It’s great to unveil another new initiative at the Eagles.
“I believe we are only the second Championship Club to have an app and again this shows how we are at the forefront of new ideas.
“Along with providing our fans with a great new way to keep up to date with all the goings on at the club, it also provides a platform for organisations to be commercially associated with highly competitive rates.”
Liam Claffey, Eagles Marketing Manager, said:
“The App already has a vast amount of content with much more to come in the coming weeks and months all of which is completely free!
“I encourage all fans to download the app and make sure you rate the app in the app store too!”
Behind the development is Sports Club App.com Managing Director and Sheffield businessman Mark Slatter, said:
“As someone who has been involved in professional and junior sport, I realise how important it is to communicate to everyone involved with a sport – whether they are a fan, a player or official and how difficult raising funds for a club can be.
“We have designed Sports Club App to help clubs do both”.
Hope Valley Hawks Rugby League in North Derbyshire has already recognised the potential of the App. They are also currently working on their own Sports Club App.
Manager Scott Buckler said:
“Rugby League is a fast growing sport and at Hope Valley Hawks we wanted to make sure we were visible, not only locally but nationally. By working with Sports Club App we were allowed an opportunity to promote our club across the country.
“We have around a squad of 25 and we feel an app can raise awareness amongst players and their families which in turn will encourage more people to join and get involved either playing or volunteering.
“The Sports Club App team have given us great support and we are very excited about the launch and having our app available to download which will allow Hope Valley Hawks to raise awareness of commercial opportunities which will support the future of the club.”
