North Yorkshire manufacturer, Ellis is aiming to build upon its burgeoning global reputation by investing £450,000 in the redevelopment and extension of its Rillington headquarters.
The work, which is due for completion in September, will see the cable cleat manufacturer’s office space extended by 70 per cent.
Richard Shaw, managing director of Ellis, said:
“The last financial year was a record for the company, something we have managed to achieve in 15 of the last 18-years.
“In order to maintain this record of success we need to bring in more staff – particularly within product design and development, and export sales – and to bring more staff in we desperately needed more space.”
Work on site began in April and is being carried out by Malton-based Sleightholme – a company that was also responsible for the most recent extension to Ellis’ warehouse facilities in 2008.
The company is currently modifying its management systems to comply with the Environmental Standard ISO14001. The new open plan offices have been designed to minimise the Company’s carbon footprint and will feature sun pipes that maximise natural lighting; energy efficient LED lighting; a heat exchange ventilation system that also reduces energy consumption; and solar and thermally efficient glazing.
“The new offices will reflect our position as the world’s leading cable cleat manufacturer and provide us with the capacity to further extend the scope of our service, both in terms of countries we deal with and our ability to bring new and enhanced products to market.”
