A new forum is to be set up for accountants working in business in South Yorkshire and North East Derbyshire.
It is the idea of the Sheffield and District Society of Chartered Accountants and is designed to meet the needs of Society members who might be feeling a little isolated.
Chris Hill, who has just taken over as President of the Society, said:
“It will be a kind of support mechanism for, say, a finance director who might be the only accountant in his or her business. The forum will give members such as this an opportunity to get together with others in a similar situation and talk about issues affecting them.”
Chris, a partner with Sheffield- based independent chartered accountants and specialist business advisers Hawsons, of Glossop Road, added:
“Hopefully, it will also help them to feel more involved with the Society.”
Chris also wants to encourage younger members to become more active on the Society’s management committee as a way of introducing new ideas.
During his year of office, Chris will be attending dinners and meetings all over the UK.
As well as Sheffield, the Society also covers Rotherham, Barnsley, Doncaster and Sheffield.
