Huddersfield-based TaxAssist Accountants has expanded its team with the appointment of Kelly Fitzgerald thanks to a successful partnership with the University of Huddersfield.
Following a 12 month university placement, 22 year old Kelly Fitzgerald, who graduated this year, has been rewarded for her efforts and offered a full time position as trainee accountant.
TaxAssist Accountants in Huddersfield has been taking on placement students from the Accountancy and Finance degree course since 2009, offering them 12 months on the job training.
Thanks to the successful partnership with the university, TaxAssist Accountants has also welcomed Daniel Walker, who will shadow the team for a year.
Nick Brook who runs TaxAssist Accountants in Huddersfield said:
“The partnership we have with Huddersfield University has been an amazing success. Too often young people leave university with no real experience of working life, whereas university placement years allow students to train in their chosen career and also gain valuable work experience.
“We’re thrilled to have found Kelly through the scheme and are delighted to welcome Daniel to the team.”
As part of the partnership, TaxAssist Accountants in Huddersfield also sponsors the ‘Best student on placement’ accolade which is awarded at the universities graduation ceremony.
Andrew Stainton, student placement officer at the University of Huddersfield, said:
“The experience students’ gain during a placement is invaluable in helping to make informed decisions about future career paths.
“TaxAssist Accountants in Huddersfield are a great example of a local business who are giving students this opportunity and we are delighted to see that Kelly’s placement has resulted in a full time position with the business.”
