Anyone for tennis? Murray factor serves up extra interest in York street name

It’s one of North Yorkshire’s most sought-after rural addresses that will appeal to all budding Andy Murrays.

And now independent Yorkshire residential letting specialists Linley & Simpson is reporting that the crowning of the first home-grown Wimbledon champion for 77 years is helping to serve up extra interest in a five-bedroom detached property on Tennis Court Lane at Tollerton, near York.

Originally the village school, ‘Hide and Seek Cottage’  has been converted into a family home with separate annexe and courtyard garden available at a monthly rent of £1,495.

Kathryn Burton, manager of Linley & Simpson’s branch in Micklegate, York, said:

“Whether it’s all the publicity about Wimbledon and the Murray factor or not, his history-making victory has coincided with a rise in internet searches of the property.

“It’s a property with real character, perfectly located to the North of York with easy access to the A1, A19 and just a 15 minute drive into the city centre.”

Ironically, despite the street name, Tollerton Tennis Club is located in another part of the village – off Newton Lane.
