Two experts in employment regulations are uniting to offer free advice on the difference between employees and the self-employed.
CCF Accountancy, which was named Small Business of the Year at the Ackrill Media Group Business Awards this year, will be hosting the seminar along with Berwins Solicitors. The event, called The Secret Employee, is sponsored by Imagine Financial Planning.
The seminar will see Teresa Bowe of CCF Accountancy team up with Berwins Solicitors to discuss the differences between employees and people who are self-employed.
Teresa, who holds regular seminars to help businesses get to grips with their finances, said:
“It is easy to get confused when it comes to someone’s employment status, but that can lead to serious problems.
“We’ll be looking at the tests used by HMRC to determine whether someone is an employee or not and what the implications of that status are, in terms of both tax and the law.
“We will also discuss the potential pitfalls of having a ‘secret employee’ and how businesses can protect themselves, as well as tax planning opportunities for the future.”
The seminar takes place at the Cairn Hotel on Ripon Road, Harrogate, on Thursday, July 18 at 8am. It begins with a light breakfast and there will be a Q&A session before it finishes at 9.30am.
The seminar is particularly suitable for business owners and managers, as well as HR professionals.
The seminar and breakfast are free and open to anyone, but booking is necessary. To secure your place, call CCF Accountancy on 01423 567499.
