Headway, which launched last September, provides a wide range of support and information services for people with brain injuries, their families and carers.
A fundraising event is being held from 1pm on Saturday, September 14, at the popular South Bay seafront with the Headway team making its way along the front answering questions to help increase awareness of brain injuries and their consequences.
Headway’s local branch chair Mark Hollinghurst said:
“We have had a fantastic year since our last fundraiser and would like to thank everyone who has shown an interest in Headway for their kind support.
“We hope that people we come down and join us at the seafront and spread the word about the issues associated with brain injury and the ways in which Headway can help people with such injuries – and their families and carers.”
Each year around 135,000 people are admitted to hospital with a brain injury. The majority will make a full recovery in time but even a minor injury can sometimes result in longer term problems.
“Severe injuries will inevitably need complex care, impacting on the patient, their family and carers.
