Yorkshire family baker raise £1,800 for children’s hospices

More than 30 bakers swapped rolling pins for walking boots when they took part in a charity ramble for three children’s hospices.

Staff from Thomas the Baker raised more than £1,800 for three local children’s hospices with an eight mile walk around North Yorkshire.

The two and a half hour sponsored walk started out at Thomas the Baker HQ in Helmsley, where they headed north towards the edge of the North York Moors, before arriving back in Helmsley – raising valuable funds for the bakery’s chosen charities Martin House Hospice, Boston Spa, Forget Me Not, Huddersfield, and Butterwick House, Middlesbrough.

All three charities provide care for children and young people with progressive life-limiting illness, as well as support for their families.

Chris Chapman from Thomas The Baker said:

“A great – but tiring – day was had by all. We couldn’t believe we raised so much and everyone was very generous with their support and time. All three of the charities are very close to our hearts.
