A Leeds hotel and city charity are teaming up together to stage a fundraising evening with a sporting theme.
Malmaison and learning disability charity, Leeds Mencap, are hosting a star studded evening, complete with three course meal, that will have rugby fans racking their brains with their very own action packed and fun filled quiz show.
The event, which is loosely based on the TV show A League of Their Own, will see Rich Williams from Radio Aire’s breakfast show hosting the comedy panel game with Leeds Rhino Ace, Danny McGuire, and Wakefield Wildcats Full-back, Richie Mathers, as team captains.
The evening promises to be a riot of hilarity with a series of questions set to make even the sternest of us crease up with laughter.
Leeds Rhinos player Danny McGuire, who is also the Ambassador of Leeds Mencap, said:
“As the Ambassador of Leeds Mencap I know the fantastic work Leeds Mencap delivers and I’ve seen first-hand how families grow stronger and more confident throughout their time with the charity.
“I’m delighted to be part of this event and we have some fantastic players getting involved.
“A Rugby League of Their Own promises to be a great evening so please show your support for a fantastic local cause and book your tickets before they sell out!”
The event which is taking place on Tuesday, September 10, will raise essential funding for the charity, which supports over 300 families and individuals with a learning disabilities throughout Leeds every week.
Leeds Mencap delivers a range of different projects, including social groups, singling support, a stay and play, a residential home, an inclusive dance group Me2, residential care and Hawthorn, a project which supports families with a child under the age of three with a learning disability.
Ruth Fawcett, Head of Fundraising & PR said:
“Events like A Rugby League of their Own raise crucial income for Leeds Mencap, and we simply could not deliver the vast range of activities we do without them.
“In fact, not many people are aware that we are a completely independent charity which must raise all our own funds so it is with huge thanks to those involved in the evening for their support – and we cross our fingers for a great attendance!”
Tickets for the event are very limited and on a first come first serve basis. Included within the ticket price is a sumptuous three course meal and drinks reception and the tickets are priced at just £35 per person.
