Bridal shop to defend title at awards ceremony

A Boroughbridge bridal shop will have the chance to defend its title of Best Bridal Gown Retailer after being shortlisted for the second year running.

Curvy Bridal on Fishergate was given the prestigious award at last September’s North of England Wedding Awards.

Now, thanks to votes from customers, the popular business has been shortlisted again and staff are hoping to repeat their success when this year’s winners are announced at a gala ceremony at the National Railway Museum in York on Monday, September 9.

Curvy Bridal owner Louise Leong said:

“We were so proud to win the award last year, so I was thrilled when I found out we had been shortlisted again.

“These awards are decided based on customers’ votes and feedback, which makes winning extra special.

“We pride ourselves on making every bride-to-be feel truly special, so being shortlisted based on their recommendations for the second year in a row means so much to us all.”

Louise and her staff spend a lot of time getting to know their customers as they call in for fittings over the months before their wedding, as well as chatting on Facebook both before and after the big day.

She believes this personal approach has been fundamental in Curvy Bridal’s success since it was founded in 2008.

All the staff are enthusiastic about their work and, earlier this year, shop assistant Abie Blades was highly commended in the employee of the year category of the Ackrill Media Group Business Awards thanks to the commitment and passion she has for her job.

The North of England Wedding Awards are held in association with The Wedding Guide UK and are the region’s most prestigious accolades for customer service excellence. The finalists are chosen from hundreds of wedding-related businesses across the north of England.
