Law firm supports Yorkshire’s helicopter heroes

Leeds law firm Emsleys has raised £6,000 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and pledged continued donations through its new support service for accident victims.

The firm, which specialises in personal injury, works with people like Sarah Wise from Crossgates, Leeds, who, in 2008, was severely injured in a car crash.

Sarah’s rescue by the Yorkshire Air Ambulance was caught on camera for the BBC’s Helicopter Heroes series.

Five years after the accident, the case has finally been settled, allowing Sarah to put the accident behind her and focus on raising her ten month old son Billy.

Sarah said:

“I’m delighted they’re supporting Yorkshire Air Ambulance who will always be my heroes.”

Emsleys raised £6,000 through numerous fundraising events and has pledged to donate £10 to Yorkshire Air Ambulance for every case they take on through Review My Claim, a free independent service launched earlier this year, to help tackle poor legal advice and protect genuine accident victims.

Andrew Greenwood, Partner and personal injury law expert at Emsleys Solicitors, said:

“The Yorkshire Air Ambulance plays a vital part in ensuring accident victims get the best possible chance at recovery; shaving vital minutes off the time it takes to get medical help to patients and transport them to hospital. We’re delighted to support them.”

Nicky Massen, regional fundraising manager, Yorkshire Air Ambulance, said:

“We would like to thank Emsleys staff and clients for supporting the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

“As an independent charity, we rely solely on individuals, groups and corporate supporters such as Emsleys to help us raise the £9,990 we need each and every day to keep our two air ambulances flying.”

Later this month Emsleys will be hosting a charity walk in Harewood with all funds raised being donated to the charity.
