A national panel of experts is to convene in York for the Fifth Annual Review of the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
Organised by Langleys Solicitors LLP, the event will feature keynote speeches by members of the panel who include High Court judge Mr Justice Baker, the Official Solicitor Alastair Pitblado and leading barrister Fenella Morris QC.
The annual review has become a popular and regular feature in the diaries of lawyers, judges, clinicians and social work professionals, providing them with a valuable opportunity to debate the key issues around the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and the implications of latest judgments made in the Court of Protection.
Langleys’ Health and Social Care Unit deals with community care, medical treatment, mental capacity and adult safeguarding cases in the Court of Protection (CoP).
The team is ranked in the prestigious Legal 500 which describes it as having “a national footprint for CoP matters”.
Susan McKendry, who leads the unit’s specialist team and will chair the forthcoming Fifth Annual Review, said:
“We’re delighted to host the national annual review of the MCA again in York.
“This event provides a key opportunity for professionals from diverse backgrounds to meet, hear and debate the latest thinking around our mental capacity legislation and its impact on some of the most vulnerable people in our society.”
The Fifth Annual Review of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 takes place on Thursday at St William’s College in York.
