Shop donates to charity after successful launch

A new shop has marked its arrival in Bedale by making a donation to a local charity.

Shoeberry in the Market Place held an open day to mark its launch – and donated ten per cent of the profits from the day to Dales-Care, which it has confirmed as its charity of the year.

Inviting local business owners and members of the community to the event, the business also celebrated its move to a limited company.

Shoeberry’s owner Lucy Carr said:

“Our first open day was brilliant – it was a great chance to meet people and officially announce our arrival in Bedale.

“I’m very grateful to everyone who came along on the day and showed their support for the new shop. Bedale is a thriving town and I’m very excited to be part of it.”

The open day was the first event Shoeberry has held for Dales-Care, which offers a place for retired people in the Bedale community to meet and socialise, but Lucy plans to hold further events over the coming year.

She added:

“With the new autumn-winter collection on display during our open day, I knew it would be a good time to make a donation from the sales to a local charity, and I couldn’t think of a better cause than Dales-Care.”
