Staff at Langleys Solicitors LLP have completed half marathons and a 5k race to raise more than £5,000 for two cancer charities.
Tony Boyes, a casualty claims manager in the company’s insurance division, took part in the Bupa Great North Run, completing the 13.1 mile route in a time of two hours, 30 minutes and 48 seconds.
He raised £2,725 for Cancer Research UK in memory of his friend Andy Burrows who died in April 2013, aged 43.
“I completed the route in a reasonable time given that I couldn’t run to the top of my street a few months earlier without getting out of breath. I’ve been overwhelmed by people’s generosity which together with the memory of Andy, spurred me on.”
A ten-strong team from Langleys’ residential conveyancing department also supported Cancer Research UK, raising more than £1,000 by completing the charity’s Pretty Muddy Clumber Park Race for Life.
The members of the team were Charlotte Bosier, Hayley Allsop, Heather Cox, Heather Neil, Lucy Barthorpe, Miranda Creasey, Sammi Harrison, Sarah Wilkinson, Wendy Hayward and Regan Draper.
Charlotte and Sammi have also supported the Against Breast Cancer charity this year, taking part with friends in the Run to the Beat half marathon in London to raise £1,660.
