Leeds-based law firm Emsleys has announced a 10.1 per cent growth in turnover to £7.8m and 33.6 per cent increase in net profits year-on-year as it welcomes four new team members.
The firm has undergone a period of significant development in the past two years, embracing legal sector changes, transforming service delivery and investing in staff.
Over the past 12 months, the firm has seen a 24 per cent increase in private client referrals and 78 per cent increase in business client referrals, which the firm puts down to its forward thinking new initiatives.
The firm is also growing its personal injury team with the appointment of associate solicitor David Morris, who joins the firm from Simpson Miller and Sean Morley, who joins from Horwich Farrelly in Manchester.
In addition the firm has awarded training contracts to Rachel Sharp and Jonathan Robson during which time they will work alongside experienced solicitors to receive comprehensive training and support.
Andrew Greenwood, partner at Emsleys, said:
“We’ve been working with the community in Leeds for more than 26 years, but the past two years have been a period of significant change for us.
“We recognised we were operating in an over-populated industry and knew we needed to innovate and change rather than risk joining the catalogue of failed Yorkshire law firms.”
Following a comprehensive review of its business strategy, in 2012 Emsleys re-launched with a clear vision “to win and retain our clients for life” and has since launched initiatives such as clear fixed fee services, client rewards programme and free services such as Review My Claim, which helps accident victims get the compensation they are entitled to.
“We’ve put our clients and staff at the heart of everything we do and the results speak for themselves; a recent survey showed 97 per cent of our clients would recommend us and 97.5 per cent would use us again – we’re working hard to get that up to 100 per cent.”
Emsleys celebrated a hat-trick of recommendations in the prestigious league table of national law firms: Legal 500 this month, as well as winning a national award for client care at the Eclipse Proclaim Modern Law Awards.
The firm has also been shortlisted for two Law Society Excellence Awards.
