Richard Lee’s store – which is situated on Cottingham Road, in the heart of Hull’s university quarter – has already sold 3,000 refils, 600 up on this time last year.
Richard, 33, said:
“I’ve actually been at Cartridge World for ten years because I worked for the previous franchisee for nine years before he sold it to me, so you could say it’s a tenth birthday present!
“I first came here on a part-time basis when I was a student at Hull University.
“When I completed my degree I was offered a full-time job and have been here ever since.
“When the business came on the market, I thought I’d missed the boat, because there was another potential buyer. But that sale fell through, presenting me with the opportunity to buy it for myself.”
“The average saving on a Cartridge World cartridge is around £10.
“That makes us popular with students. To encourage them we also offer a student discount.
“Since the start of the year, we’ve sold over 3,000 cartridges which would otherwise have gone into landfill.
“That’s 600 more than the same time last year, so our message on recycling is clearly getting through.
“It’s also saved customers £30,000, compared to the cost of buying a new one produced by the printer manufacturer.”
