Richmondshire Council moves into new offices

A new era dawned for as the authority opened its new offices.

Council Leader John Blackie welcomed the staff to – the £2million building developed in Station Road, Richmond.

The move means the council is based in one building for the first time in its history – the previous buildings in Frenchgate, Swale House and Dundas Street have closed.

“At last Red Letter Day arrived, and after 35 years of waiting, Richmondshire District Council opened its new offices at Mercury House.

“What a wonderful feeling – everybody was smiling and we had very chipper, staff, customers…..even councillors.  So now let us get on with the business – here we go!”
