Chefs at a city centre York hotel have taken delivery of a mountain of sprouts.
Over the next four week, the Best Western Monkbar Hotel’s kitchen brigade will prepare and cook more than 21,000 sprouts for the dinner table.
And, in a bid to source their produce locally, the kitchen brigade at theMonkbar Hotel have bought the bulk of their traditional Festive vegetable from Millers, a York based wholesale.
General Manager Graham Usher said:
“Last week we took delivery of a mountain of spouts – enough to bury head chef Martin Bragg up to his neck!
“From now until the beginning of 2014 it’s fair to say Martin and his team will be preparing, cooking and serving up thousands of sprouts each and every day.”
