Taking an initial loan of £50 from Leeds Mencap, groups will use their business skills and knowledge to turn it into the highest amount possible over a six week period!
Sponsored by SimplyHealth, and following in the footsteps of the TV show led by Lord Alan Sugar, teams that take part in the challenge will be given the opportunity to showcase their innovative strategies and fundraising skills in a celebratory finale.
The teams will be scrutinised and questioned on how they raised their totals by an esteemed judging panel which will reveal which team raised the most, and therefore ‘hired’, whereas the teams that raised the least…will be “fired”!
Judges on the panel include “Mr Yorkshire”, Keith Madeley MBE who is urging businesses to get behind the event.
“This is an ideal opportunity for businesses in Yorkshire to support a leading charity and at the same time fulfil their corporate social responsibilities and build business connections.”
The challenge will bring some incredible opportunities and results that will highlight the excellent work of the organisations involved.
It will provide teams the opportunity to bond in the work place, build morale and enthusiasm for their work as well as the potential to build new partnerships across Leeds.
The challenge aims to inspire businesses to go the extra mile by engaging in a positive and exciting way.
It will ignite a bit of friendly rivalry and showcase business skills whilst at the same time raising valuable funds for the work that Leeds Mencap fulfil.
Above all els it will be really fun and teams can count on the fact that they will be doing something amazing for local people with learning disabilities.
Halifax Bank, a great supporter of Leeds Mencap signed up to the challenge at the first opportunity and are looking forward to what lays ahead.
Michael Fox from the Halifax said:
“We are delighted to accept the invitation to join the Leeds Mencap Apprentice challenge.
“We are a very small team within a large organisation, but we are extremely proud to be fundraising for such a deserving cause.
“We hope to raise a sizeable amount whilst using our initiative and having some fun in the process.”
The Leeds Mencap Apprentice teams will be fundraising between the March 3 to April 24, and will be invited to the celebration round-up event which will be on April 30 in the Trinity Church, Boar Lane, Leeds.
Team registration costs £25 and an initial loan of £50 will be provided by Leeds Mencap to each team.
